Some of them, like me, have been struggling for the past seven years to pay for my school’s ludicrous fees. And some of them are so rich, they’ve practically got everything set for the rest of their lives. Some of us are working summer jobs to get by, whilst others get invited by Vogue and get to literally, and I mean literally, sit behind people like Anna Wintour, Vera Wang, Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman at high-publicity events. In 10 years time, those classmates will probably be famous fashion designers whilst the rest of us get forgotten. It’s not like I’m jealous - I hate all things Kardashian etc - but it’s just weird how in the supposed controlled environment of school, you still have such huge disparities in what people eventually become. It certainly isn’t just talent. Money and personality are part of it too.

As much as i can go off about this topic, ive learned to ignore that issue.. I’m a pretty middle class dude, but some of my friends have wealthy parents.. We all avoid talking about money and actively each other to stop flaunting themselves if they are

Yes, world isn’t fair and it isn’t always a nice place. I some cases having a talent can win against monay worries but in most the money just wins.
We might be way below the 1% (or 0.1% what ever it is) but we are still quite lucky compered to the really unlucky and poor (50%?).
I’m currently really bored, miserable and alone at work but I should still be feeling pretty lucky and I should enjoy my life. Having a work should already be a reason to be really happy as the future isn’t looking really good in Europe. I guess people always want something better...

You should read “outliers” by Malcom Gladwell, it shows that successful people (particularly the ones he profiles including Beatles and bill gates among others) are greatly aided by being in the right place at the right time, and not just talent and/or wealth. It’s also a good read.

Working in this office I’m amazed at how much money some people have. You want a tunnel going from you basement to your pool house? We can do that but its gunna cost a lot, about $xamount. Thats not a lot...? o. And then theres You want an indoor basketball ball court/fitness building for your children. Thats gunna cost... o never mind. (it was around $1mil)
Meanwhile I’ busting my ass an barely make bills.

My parents pushed the whole “go to college, get a degree” thing, and I’ll admit that if I’d stuck with engineering I’d be in a much better place right now. But it seems a stupid investment looking back, when I’m making half what my dad was at my age and can’t see any way to make more in this line of work.
My dad’s family has worked for the railroad for generations, and I know my parents wanted “more” for me (whatever that means) but if I'm going to have pointless job that doesn't interest me I'd much rather have a better-paying one!
